Introduction: “Suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth under the age of 25 in the United States (Drapeau & McIntosh, 2015). Across all ages, American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/ AN) populations experience particularly high risk for suicide, with an overall suicide rate of 11.7 individuals per 100,000. Recent theories about AI/AN suicide incorporate risk and protective factors unique to these populations (Goldston, Molock, Whitbeck, Murakami, Zayas, & Hall, 2008).”
